As a member, you are represented on the job by your Local Union. Your Business Manager shoulders this responsibility with the assistance of his business agents. In addition, the Business Manager appoints stewards to provide day-to-day representation on the job site. The Union protects you in many ways, such as enforcing rights under the collective bargaining agreement and also protects against discrimination in employment by enforcing both contract rights and legal rights.
Another benefit of being in the Union is having representatives assist members in finding employment through referral or the hiring hall. We, as a union also provide apprenticeship and training programs that offer members the opportunity to develop and improve skills needed to obtain and retain employment in a complex and demanding working world.
